    changing ONE colour in anc Fraser

    I happened across this interesting article with great photos on the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band site.

    The band has worn clan Fraser in "ancient" colours since its inception, but a couple years ago the band decided it was time for new kilts and a new "look".

    According to the article they worked with ALD Kiltmakers in Glasgow and Marton Mills and ended up only changing one colour in the tartan, changing the blue from a pastel blue to a dark blue.

    Goes to show how a tartan can be completely transformed by the change of a single colour!

    BTW the article mentions something I'd not heard before, that part of the kiltmaking process is hanging the kilt up for several days.

    I have to admit, I really like the new kilts. It is a dramatic transformation.
    "Nice Quilt." - comment on my Kilt by a man behind me in line at Home Depot.
