And the jonesing begins (and it's not even a kilt)

Just took a couple of measurements yesterday and e-mailed them to my mother in law. She just told me she was getting ready to start making a set of kilt hose for me. Making this jones extra interesting is the fact that she didn't ask me what color of yarn I wanted her to use. Thankfully, she has a picture from my wedding where I was kilted in her living room to use to choose colors. Not sure if this is the right category since it's about hose, not a kilt, but if not the mods may feel free to move it wherever they see fit.

How fun, and what a nice gift! LOTS of work there. . . Do you even know what pattern she is using?

I don't know what pattern she is using. I gave her a copy of the book "Designs for Knitting Kilt Socks and Knickerbocker Stockings" a while ago so I am sure the pattern is coming from there. She actually only knit her first pair of socks about two years ago, and said she thought it was fun, so maybe she has decided normal socks are getting to easy.

Cool! It's really great to have in-laws who don't behave like outlaws. As for not asking about color, that's the "surprise" part of the gift.

    Of course, pictures!!

I have now been informed that it is some sort of patterened hose. Not sure if that means cabling or dicing though.

Yeah, I got pretty lucky the second go round as far as in-laws.

I was just informed that this will be a long wait. Her plan is to knit 4 pairs; one for myself, one for my father-in-law, and one pair each for her two sons and make them Christmas gifts. Only 190 days till Christmas.
