    Itchy Wool ??

I recently bought Two, 5 yard wool kilts from USA kilts. The thing is one is very scratchy itchy and one is not. Can any one tell me what caused this. And will anything make a wool kilt less scratchy?

it may be a function of which mill wove the tartan. I have a Dalgliesh custom weave that's quite soft and a Marton Mills stock weave that is noticeably scratchier (both 16oz).

I read some where that you can hand wash in cold water( do not ring it out) in either woollight or shampoo to make it less itchy. And hang dry it. I have not tried this.

This should not only take care of scratchy wool but also protect your kilt from sweat, etc.

Perhaps you could contact the kilt maker for the reason and possible solutions? He has lots of experience and may be able to offer some advice.

When I first got my SWK BW heavy weight it was itchy. Then I washed and Conditioned the kilt and now it is very comfortable to wear.
