justification for underwear when kilted
Today I was dressed in full formal kilt wear, Prince Charlie, fly plaid and all that goes with it, including off white hose. I had decided to take my dog Abby for a walk before leaving the house as I would be gone at our usual evening walk time. We went for our walk and on return tried the door and found it was locked. Here in San francisco one would never leave the house unattended and unlocked, unfortunately. I found that I had not put my keys in my sporran before leaving and so I was in deep dodo.
I live on the side of a hill and the front part of my house is at ground level while the back is actually 2 stories high.
Fortunately I have a 12 foot ladder in the unlocked basement and I knew that a kitchen window was unlocked. I did not like the idea of climbing the ladder and crawling through a window in my PC and kilt. So after taking the ladder out and setting it up below the kitchen window I stripped down to just my scivvies and white hose and gillie brogues and proceeded up the ladder. It took some doing to get the old window open enough for me to climb through but eventually I was able to get into the house.
As I was in full view of several homes further down the hill from me I was expecting the police to come at any minute but if they did I was already redressed and gone by the time they got here.
I am glad I was wearing a pair of briefs but if I wasn't the neighbors would have seen a little more than they wanted to see as this was the only way I could get back into the house and I was going to this event come hell or high water.

Despite my signature, I have thought of many reasons not to go "regimental". Now, I have one more. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Great story! Thanks.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I have always advocated the following -
"Always wear what is appropriate for the activity in which you are engaged"
And let us not forget that we have numerous Scouts and former Scouts among our number. Their motto is -
"Be Prepared!"

Thanks for the story. I'll remember to brief-up the next time I forget my keys

I would think that, under the circumstances, the polite thing for any neighbors to do would be to avert their eyes. I mean, they're not referred to as "privates" for nothing, eh? Frankly, I think that it's pretty grammar-school to be trying to invade another's privacy so minding one's own business would be the mature thing to do.

*** In these matters it is always better to be overdressed than underdressed.

Ditto ! Sometimes the old saying of " less is more " doesn't hold true . Sometimes " more " is less trouble in the "end" . Sorry , no pun intended ( okay maybe a little bit ) .

In San Francisco a naked man in white hose and ghillie broghes may be uncommon, but still by City standards, fairly tame. I lived there for 20 years and there is a lot more nudity walking down the street on any given weekend than any regimental kilt wearer will expose in a lifetime! Thanks for the funny story and give my regards to "everyone's favorite city."
