    New guy question

I'm new to the site and looking for some advice. I have worn Utilikilts for a spell and enjoyed the "freedom", which has lead to my desire for advice on traditional kilt info and purchasing. Being a Marine I'm looking to find a Leatherneck tartan kilt but I want to get some insite on what I should look for. I would be gratefull if some one could point me in the right direction. I dont fully understand the varying construction but I'm not completely foriegn to the broad concepts involved. Being a new guy, I dont want to spend a whole lot but I'm looking in the $200 range. Thanks for any help. Semper Fi.

Can't go wrong here for $219 here. Rocky and his crew at USA Kilts are great to work with, they'll take care of you. And let me say thanks for your service as well!

Fixed that link for ya (needed an "l" at the end):

Absolutely good advice and I do like the Leatherneck tartan. I met Rocky on Tuesday and bought an off-the-shelf Casual Kilt while I was at his store. It fits perfectly and may be another one to consider. If that $200 is your total kilt budget you would have some $$ left over for accessories. The Casual is also custom made to your measurements and (depending on hip size) would be about $120.

My wife and I are considering "matching" kilts in the U. S. Army tartan. (Our son is a Captain and has already served in three combat zones.) Not sure if we will go the semi-trad or the casual route at this point. She hasn't seen this Casual one yet - then I'd like to get her to the store to look at different types.

    Thank you for your service.

We JUST got the Leratherneck tartan (PV cloth) in yesterday, so the picture isn't in the tartan gallery on our site yet, but we did snap a quick shot of it (and a bunch of others) when it arrived. The Leatherneck tartan is third from the bottom:
