I Know That This Is Rude

That was what a young lady (of about 8) said to me when she asked me "What is your skirt really called, I know it is not a skirt but what is it?"

I was at a holiday party tonight and she asked me that. We had a real good conversation about the difference between a skirt and a Kilt. As we were finishing our conversation an adult lady (not guessing her age) then came up to me and said nice skirt, when this young lady starting telling her all about it. Have to love it.

Also the hostess of the evening said that she said after sending out invitations many asked if the Kilted gentleman will be there.

Great story. I see it all happening in my mind. Wish I could have a similar kind of conversation with such a pretty and intelligent young lady.
There must be a great future in your part of the world for gentlemen wearing THE kilt.

If I have the testicular fortitude to wear a kilt in the Deep South, calling it a skirt ain't gonna bother me.

I can't wait for my 6-year old granddaughter to see me kilted for the first time...I imagine her saying, "look momma, grandpa is wearing a skirt!"

I called in to a fairly new bar in town last night, dressed in my Farquharson 6 yd from Geoffrey of Edinburgh, and one of the young men who is a regular there said to me on the way out that I was a legend for wearing the kilt. Wow ! I suggested to get one for New Year and he said he will.

I have been wearing kilts since my daughter was about 2. She is now 6 and she always takes up for me when anyone tries to speak derogatorily about my kilts. Last St. Patrick's Day I wore my kilt to her school for her class party. One of the kids tried to ask me why I was wearing a skirt, but before I could answer Katie flew into a full scale explanation (at least from the point of view of a 5 year old.)
"Daddy will you wear your quilt today?" Katie Graham (Age 4)

It's been a long strange ride so far and I'm not even halfway home yet.
