Las Vegas NV Celtic Games
My wife is going to have some time off from Acupuncture school in April and we are thinking about a trip to Las Vegas.
Wonder of wonders, I stumbled across the Games being held on April 20-21.
What might be the cab fare from "the strip" to the park where the games are being held. I was considering not renting a car for this trip, but just might change my mind if it makes sense.
I cannot find any information yet on how big the games will be, not that that matters, but any further input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!

Las Vegas games
It is quite far north of Las Vegas. I say rent a car for the day. If you took a taxi, you would not get back. There won't likely be any taxis waiting when you want to return.

I'll be in attendance this year. It will be a lot easier to rent a car to travel from the strip. The host hotel is the Golden Nugget and there will be many activities going on, on Freemont Street the Friday night before the games. (Pipe bands, athletics, etc)

I'll be there! On Saturday.
There are Fremont Street events both on Friday night and Saturday night, I believe.
I like to stay right there on Fremont Street, so I can soak in all the stuff going on (Games related and non-Games related), have a Yard Of Guinness, stay out late, and walk back to my room.
If you haven't been to Fremont Street on a Saturday night, you're in for something! It's a freak show, a huge block party, stages here and there with live bands. And with pipe bands and kilties. Usually a Marine Corps brass band performs with the LA Scots Grade One Pipe Band.
Here's my report from the 2012 Vegas Games

See ya there!

I'm really looking forward to it this year. Last year was our first year attending (my wife's first time ever attending) the games anywhere so we didn't get there early enough to take it all in. I had planned on kilting up but she wouldn't have it. We get there and she sees that I'm in the minority wearing pants, so this year I'll be in kilt (Macpherson formal).

Looks like I'll make it there for the first time ever...didn't make the Phoenix games this year...jonesing to cruise the vendor tents and clan tents. Will just be there mid day Saturday - a down and back from a friend's house up in Utah.

Headed down from Cedar City, Utah tomorrow morning. Will FINALLY get to see the Las Vegas games. I'll be lurking around the vendor tents and the clan tents. Wearing my new Dress Blue Marine tartan kilt...barelegged with sandals in the heat...maybe a doughboy campaign hat.
