Office Fashion (Shoes)
I have worn my kilt to the office before, but decided that I didn't have the right socks/shoes for the kilt. I have a great pair of boots, but they aren't really appropriate for the office.
I am wondering what someone would suggest for socks and shoes for a business-casual kilt-wearer (is that even english?).

I'd suggest either kilt socks or soccor socks without logos and plain black laced shoes. A basic laced style shoe will go with anything and the soccor or kilt socks are long enough to get a nice dressy appearance without being flashy. The socks should be black or Navy by prefference.

shoes
Hi and WELCOME,
I'm not exactly the image of sartorial elegance as anyone who have seen my pic or read my posts will tell you, but I agree with Bubba for the office, although I think you could get away with a smart boot. I saw a guy a week or so ago in a pin stripe kilt suit with silver indoor football boots and he looked pretty cool, so I would think most things go. Just be confident

I agree with the socks. I was thinking of ordering a couple pair of black ones from sport kilt.
The problem is in the shoes.
I have a pair of shoes that look great with pretty much every pair of (dress) pants I own, as long as the pant leg covers the ankle. Kilts don't do that.
I think the shoe makes me look like I'm wearing big floppy clown shoes if I have any ankle showing. I guess I am looking for advice on the shape of the shoe.

Rhino:
Sorry, I didn't refresh the page and missed your post.
I agree that I could get away with the right boot. But I think a shoe would project a more professional image.
The boot I do have is definately not for around the office.

shoes and boots
No worries, you know your area and therefore know what to wear. Physician heal thyself type of thing. I think you'll enjoy this forum, it's about kilts not skirts and everyones laid back and we even have a cross section of ages from 15 to over 60. Have a good one,

Kiltin' 'round the cubicles
I have a black poly-cotton kilt that works well with over-the-calf black dress socks and a pair of black dress lace-up boots. A just-over-the-ankle boot will balance the length of the toe, and a low raised heel, well, improves your calves' look. Mine are vintage Justins, but Zappos.com has some interesting choices. There are others, I'm sure, and low boots predate oxfords and brogues as daily-wear shoes.

A solid color or pinstripe midweight worsted wool kilt is a dressier office look. I've only seen that offered from Geoffrey (Tailor) 21st Century Kilts, and that's a bit over my head price-wise. If I get an office job ever again, that's on my list.

Good Luck!

Over here for office wear boots (particularly silver indoor football boots) with the kilt would certainly raise some eyebrows, especially if you're trying to project a professional image.
Ordinary black leather lace-up shoes are fine, or ordinary brogues (not ghillies) for that little extra touch. I wear these with either the beige/oatmeal kilt hose or solid coloured hose toning with the main colour of whichever kilt I have on that day.
