Kalamazoo Highland Games
Today I attended the Kalamazoo Highland Games in Southern Michigan.
It was a small affair, but a nice place to spend a few hours. I spent some time listening to the Harper's circle.
I also had an X Marks the Scot colleague come up and introduce himself. He said he recognized the tartan.
Here are a few pics.
Peter is a member of the Kalamazoo Pipe Band and is on the right side of the picture.
Beautiful weather, temp in the low 70s and a cloudless sky.
The Harp Tent.
Best regards,
Tom

Good to finally meet! That was speedy work getting the pictures up. They must have had a good turnout: when I went back to the concession truck after watching the country dancers at 2 to pick up some bridies to take home, they had sold out of everything but the shepherd's pie.

Wow Tom you're really making the rounds this summer. Where shall we meet next summer? Are you and Mrs.Hay coming back to Maxville next year?

Bob,
We are looking at a New England Tour next fall, so perhaps Loon Mountain, New Hampshire. and whatever else we can find in that time frame.
There is also one in Albany New York the end of August or beginning of Sept. So many games and so little time!
If you ever get down to the USA for anything, please let us know.

Enjoyed your pictures. I've never been to Kalamazoo, but I do have 2 vintage Checker Marathons...

Wish I could get up there. I grew up in Marshall and Battle Creek so not too far from K-zoo.
I've been trying to get my brothers who still live in BC to check out the games up there but so far neither has done so.

B.D.,
There are large games in Alma Michigan around Memorial Day, and large games at Livonia, near Flint (Called the Detroit Highland Games.) Also in Ft. Wayne IN. None of these are too far from Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. You can find the dates on Google. It's a long drive from Texas, but if you have family in the area, it might be worth while.
Best wishes,
Tom

Tom,
Albany NY is an easy one for us, just a couple hours from us, and Maine Highland Games are in Brunswick right up the road from Freeport where we go about once a year for LL Bean shopping. We'll be sure to let you know if we're going to be in the States.
