Dirk
Does anyone, or has anyone ever worn a dirk with a kilt? I'm wondering where you would put it. Also, is there any reason for wearing one?

There's no real reason for wearing a dirk. We don't need to carry our own cutlery for meals away from home anymore, nor are we likely to get in a fight of such nature. In the US wearing a dirk might even get you arrested, at the least it would be confiscated.

The laws vary from state to state. In Alaska you would not be arrested for wearing a dirk, nor would it be confiscated.
As for reasons to wear a dirk, it is part of proper formal highland wear. I wouldn't wear one casually, but if I ever get married, I will probably wear one at my wedding.

That's the spirit, Alaskan!
You never know ... you might want to fight your way out of the church!

Graham,
Great Photo. I think next to last one on the left
is a beautiful Wallace Kilt. 8) Those guys are
dressed to the hilt.
Bear,
You’re too funny Dude. I like the way you think!

It's one of my favourite photos, lovely tartans.
Nelson, no offense I hope but the guy next to you in your gallery photo has the shortest kilt I've ever seen, what is it?

No Offense taken.
It's a Clan Crawford Kilt. He made it himself.
I think it's a little bit of an optical illusion.
It hits him mid knee. He wears it where he
would wear his jeans and being a shorter guy combines
to be a look like a smaller kilt. I will post the other photo of
His Kilt check and you can get a better look at his …
kilt. HA!

It's purely a formal wear accessory, like a furry formal sporran. I fully intend to get one when I get a Montrose jacket. I suppose they could make fake ones (handle and sheath only), but I would feel a tad neutered wearing one.
Would I stride down the street in public wearing one? No, that's asking for trouble, althought I once did see someone doing just that in Alexandria VA during some Scottish parade/event. Again, I see no difference between this and some military uniform sword, or some Knights of Columbus memeber with their ceremonial sword.
I have a biz trip to Glascow sometime this month, so I think I'll zip over to Edinbough and visit the Kilt shops...
