4 yd. Kilt in fashion history
I have read a lot on the evolution of the kilt and very much enjoy this history. Most texts explain when the new styles begin or are first seen, but rarely have I read when the old styles truly become "historic" and not seen.
SO, does anyone know when the 4 yd. boxpleat first "went out of style," and would no longer have been seen? I am quite aware that they are coming back in vogue, at least among some folks, but I am wondering when in the late 19th century (or even EARLY 20th century) this would have occurred.
Thanks,
Isaac

good info
some excellent articles on the history of the kilt by Mr Newsome at Albanach.org-click on the New House Highland link at the bottom of any X Marks page, then click on the Albanach link, open the articles. All you need to know for good info on the Hx. lots of good stuff. the 4 yard Box is making a comeback.
Cheers, Pat

I will look again Bareknees1 but from what I have read there in the past, it always seems, as I said above, to explain when the new styles begin or are first seen, but not when the old styles truly become "historic" and not seen. Maybe I missed something... I will go back and check,
