    Cigars and kilts

Last night after a glorious Easter day, I was enjoying a wee dram of 18 yo Macallan and a nice cigar with my sons, before my middle son returned from leave to Fort Hood today. I had worn my cilt all day, but was afraid that the cigar smoke might permeate my cilt so I changed before lighting the cigar. I only smoke cigars on occasion and would definitely be able to tell if my cilt became smokey. Can anyone tell me if kilts pick up the smell of smoke more or less than other clothing? Thanks.

No more or less than any other article of lower half clothing with the same fiber make.

Of course, if it smells of smoke (or otherwise dirty for that matter), you can just wash it. Search the forums for numerous threads on good ways to wash you kilt (with the appropriate method for the material).

I've found the occasional cigar enjoyed outdoors doesn't leave any enduring, smoky odor in my kilt. I'd never wear my kilt while smoking indoors, however.

I was a Scout Leader while I was in the RAF. I was a single man and therefore responsible for all my own washing and ironing. I discovered that the smell of smoke can dissipate from clothing in very few hours if they are hung in fresh air on a breezy day.
