Not even then, in my opinion! I would have gone with black hose, and here's why...
Approaching a kilted stormtrooper costume from a design perspective I would have done:
1) Since the armour portions of the costume are white, and the flexible leather/fabric portions are black, I myself would have gone with a plain black kilt and plain black hose.
2) I would have got a shiny white plain sporran (fur looks out of place) and over the black hose I would have probably worn the white greaves.
This exact sporran, but preferably in shiny white patent leather to go with the look of the costume's armour
And black hose, but keep the greaves, like these guys.
The guy on the right has the right idea, a black kilt. Obviously the stormtrooper costume is entirely black and white. If you gotta go tartan, go Menzies
Now if George Lucas was designing a kilted stormtrooper, the costume probably would have had cool armour panels that hang down to protect the upper legs.

Blending those ideas together, how about black hose, white greaves, and a white armoured sporran?

Apologies if this question has already been asked, but in all the research I've done before and since I bought my first kilt, I've read a lot that white hose are a big no-no. However, there has been no explanation as to why. I'm not planning on wearing white hose any time soon, but was just curious as to the reason.
