What does your kilts weigh in at ?
This should be a good thread.
so with no belts buckles or pins what does your pride and joy come in at on the kitchen scales then.

Each one or are you after a total?

Yes very interesting especially as I took my 13oz kilt to New Zealand in January. Here are the results - 9 yard 13oz kilt = 1.9kg (4.2lbs?) and 8 yard 18oz kilt 2.2 kg (4.8lbs?). Emirates generous baggage allowance meant that I had no problems.
I will be interested to see other results.

To determine the "best kilt to fall in the lake with", I did a series of wet from the washer spin cycle and after fully dry weights on some of my Utilikilts.
These are just the size (waist x hem)and average dry weights in pounds (Kg) from multiple washings.
Workmans:
cotton duck - 32x23 2.95 (1.34 Kg), 33x23 3.13 (1.42), 34x23 3.7 1(1.68), 33x21.5 3.18 (1.44)
cotton denim - 33x23 3.34 (1.51) (this denim retains the most water - 1.9 pounds or 0.86Kg)
Survivals:
100% cotton and all 33x21.5 2.57 pounds,1.17Kg ( retains the least amount of water - 1.1 pound, 0.50 Kg )
I suspect that the digital camo kilts will weigh less and hold less water, but haven't verified on my scales.
Size seems to have a significant impact of dry and wet weight as is expected.
You can bet I will not be playing wet and dry with my rarely worn wool kilts.
The above and below kilts reflect my choices for the climate in New Mexico.
Rocky's USAK PV Casuals, 34x39x22 (waist, hip, hem) weigh between 1.27 and 1.41 pounds (0.58 - 0.64 Kg) ( some are to stripe some to sett).
USAK Semi-traditional Americam Heratage to sett 34x39x22 is 1.75 pounds or 0.79Kg.
( My original data was in pounds and ounces. I originally converted to decimal pounds. Now I have crunched the numbers all the way to Kg.)
I was raised with pounds/ounces, I worked 24 years using metric weights mostly in the sub gram range before retirement. I still have absolutely no "feel" for the heft of a Kilogram. Old dogs and tricks?

My bathroom scale is not sensitive enough to weigh my kilts. Somehow 0.0 lbs. doesn't seem correct.
As for "proper weight", I seem to recall that tartan is weighed by the oz not the gram.;)

the tartan is in deed 14oz 16 oz and 18 oz cloth but in the uk the over all weight is normaly on Kg so a heavy weight kily should be 2.25 to 2.50 KG a mid weight will be 1.50 to 1.75 KG and kilts under 1.50 are dress kilts and the 1kg and below are what we call party kilts . dress kilts and party kilts are normally not wool.

I suggest you find whoever told you dress kilts are not normally wool and slap them.

what I mean is the ones on E bay sold as dress or casual kilts around the £35 to £50 mark new and they are light and not wool . you can of course get dress kilts that are wool and better quality then the ones on the bay. but they are not heavy weight kilts over 2kg as I understand.
