So it turns out I'm a Maxwell!

I did some genealogy digging on a whim, and my Great, Great Grandmother was a Maxwell. So while it's heavily watered down with Germanic and Norwegian blood, I have Scottish blood in me after all. I'm even eligible to join the Maxwell Clan society. I'll have to look into it. And then I'll have to save up for another kilt (the Maxwell Tartan isn't super common it doesn't look like).

If you dig a bit farther back, maybe one of your ancestors was Revolutionary War General William 'Scotch Willie' Maxwell.

Maybe you are distantly related to our member Shaun Maxwell. He has a very nice Maxwell kilt.

    Godot:

Actually, the Maxwell tartan is easy to come by, as it's woven by Marton Mills in 16 oz. wool in the modern colors, and by Locharron in the modern (both 13 and 16 oz.) and ancient colors (16 oz). House of Edgar does the modern and muted colors in 13 oz. wool.

The hunting version of the tartan (red and green reversed) and weathered versions are, sadly, only available as custom weaves.

I have kilts in the modern (Marton Mills), ancient (Locharron) and hunting (D.C. Dalgliesh) (top to bottom):

Nice tartans, nice kilts, nice outfits! Oh, and did I say "nice"? You do Clan Maxwell proud.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Such a gorgeous sett! And you always wear it well, Shaun. I also like it in weathered/reproduction colours. Very smart.

It was that Hunting Maxwell that I was thinking of, Shaun. Almost makes me wish that I was a Maxwell. You wear it well.

I attempted to send you a personal message Shaun, but I'm not sure it made it through. I'm definitely interested in hearing more about the Clan Maxwell Society.
