Paying it forward - free to a good home.

Last year I had The Artificer rebuild an old Pipers Horsehair Sporran I have had since since 1968. There was nothing wrong with it, per se - I just fancied one of his remarkably fine leather cantles and different colour tassels, and thought rebuilding and recycling my old one made the most sense, financially. I'm also quite fond of the old thing and giving it a new lease on life appealed to my sentimental nature.

The original belt, cantle and tassels, including the screws and the wee attaching rings, are now surplus to requirements. Rather than go through the faff of selling these on an auction site, I decided to offer them here to a DIYer.

This is the Sporran after The Artificer worked his magic...

Here are some pics of the spare parts:

NOTE: Like the title says ~ FREE to a good home. I'll happily send them anywhere in the World. They are quite light and the package will be small-ish. I shouldn't think it will cost that much to post. All I ask is that you pay the postage. I'll parcel it up and get the cost once I know where it's going and you can pay the postage via PayPal. Oh, it comes from a 100% smoke free home and the tassels don't smell foostie at all.

First come. First served. Good luck!

    UPDATE: Spoken for.

Kind of surprised no one commented on The Artificer's fine work on the refurb. The colours are really rich and deep. Looks great with my predominantly brown/red MacDuff Hunting Modern kilt.

    Ach, weel.

I just saw this, mate! Scott did a superb job (as expected) on the refurbishment! That sporran is absolutely gorgeous; love the colouring (very earthy, of which I am quite fond). Well done on paying the remaining bits forward. You're a good man, John.

    Cheers,

I didn't comment at the time because I considered the post a bit like a 'for sale' post, leaving it to those who were actually interested in the item.

I absolutely love that sporran, as I do with your other Artificer sporran!

I must confess when I first clicked on your post I had read from the title that it was a 'paying it forward' item, but my eye was immediately drawn to the photo, so for about a second I thought that your Artificer sporran was what was up for grabs and my heart leapt!

...then I read the text and came crashing back down to earth

Please don't ever do that to me again!

Sorry, Calgacus. I obviously didn't wish to mislead and hadn't read it that way until you pointed it out. Again, I apologise. Oops.

No worries, who could foresee that anyone would be daft enough to think you'd ever want to part with such a beauty

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Scott's work is marvellous.

Very kind of you to pass on these pieces to a good home. Well done, sir.
