Pictures like this should forever put to end the right for Canadians to wear the kilt. Thanks for posting. I will be proudly wearing my Maple Leaf kilt on July 1.

Cracking picture, but just a (rather large) correction to make. That picture is taken on November 11th, 1918, and not before the battle of Vimy Ridge (April 9th, 1917) as the Canadian Army re-occupied Mons that day. It was the first time any British or Empire troops had been in the city since the Retreat from Mons in August of 1914.

Does anyone have any idea what street or where that photo was taken? I live in Brussels currently and wouldnt be against trying to visit Mons to take a "today" shot of the same place.

I see what obviously looks like a Black Watch sporran worn by one of the pipers. If Canadian it would be The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada.

Battle honours include Ypres 1915 '17, Gravenstafel, St Julien, Festubert 1915, Mount Sorrel, Somme 1916, Pozieres, Flers-Courcelette, Thiepval, Ancre Heights, Ancre 1916, Arras 1917 '18, Vimy 1917, Arleux, Scarpe 1917 '18, Hill 70, Passchendaele, Amiens, Drocourt-Queant, Hindenburg Line, Canal du Nord, Pursuit to Mons, France and Flanders 1915-1918.

What a great photo! One of the best Great War piping photos I've seen!

The Canadian War Museum's caption is that the pipe band is "likely" from the 42nd Battalion, (Royal Highlanders of Canada), CEF. Here's another pic of the parade in 1918.

And here's a link to the same pic, but where you can zoom into it.
