    Odd Compliment

I get no love for the kilt from my immediate family. In fact, I get downright disdain. They just don't get the appeal. I was wearing the kilt when I came home tonight and found my sister here. She looked me up and down and said, "I wouldn't want to go anywhere with you, but you look good in your kilt"

Odd compliment, but I'll take it

It's a start, so yeah, take the compliment.

I'd take it as a compliment - and you DO look good in it!

I've heard that siblings are allowed "back-handed compliments" Something to do with misguided signs of affection. Could "turning the other cheek as promoted in the Christian faith" suggest showing the seat of your kilt while asking, "Does my bottom misalign my pleats?" My wife declares I have too much time alone with my own thoughts. Thanks for the outlet of my babble.

Your enemies will insult you behind your back. Your friends will do it to your face... while warmly gripping your hand in theirs and smiling with the same warmth. Family who are also friends are precious.

If it’s any consolation, Mikilt, my wife, my married daughter and my daughter-in-law all dislike the kilt. Heaven knows why. I get compliments wherever I go.

I think you just answered your own question - you are getting the attention, not them!
