An Eventful Non Eventful Evening
Greetings my kilted friends and brethern,
I was fortunate enough to be able to go downtown tonight to hear some Celtic Music at a jam session. A friend was one of the musicians, so a couple of buddies and myself went to go hear her play.
On the way downtown by way of light rail, I heard this chap in his early 20's talking on his cell phone saying that " a dude on the light rail is wearing a kilt, and boy is it cool." Did not say anything to me, which surprised me somewhat, especially after his comments on the phone.
While at the bar (an Irish Pub knock off), no comments, smiles and nods yes, but that was it a big non event.
After the set was finished, we all started to leave, and on my way back to light rail, from a restaurant I was passing, out walked a group of people, mostly ladies and young girls, but one kilted gentleman. Naturally we had to talk, he found out I was from Denver and that I am kilted 99.99% of my waking life. I found out that he was from Inverness, Scotland. He was impressed with my kilting, and I was happy to meet another kilted gentleman.

Great story.
I must admit I think it's strange that people get this lookon their faces just like they are overflowing with questions ,and they never say anything.
Human nature I suppose.I was a little nevous when I met my first real scot while kilting (In Austria)However like yourself it worked out just great.
Great story....But I already said that.

It's always great to run into Kilted Brothers when you are not expecting to, it always puts a smile on my face. Thanks for sharing GMan.

After taking Cub to the dentist, we were heading for the bus stop, when an older gent stopped me and asked in a thick, Scottishe brogue, "I don't recognise the tartan. What is it?"
I told him it was Cape breton, about being a kiltmaker, wearing a kilt all the time for a year and a half, and he was delighted to hear it all. He said it was wonderful to see a kilt worn for no reason at all and that he'd wear his more often when he got back to Scotland. (He was on holiday.)

What good stories, it's nice to get encouragement from the Scots, it must surely be of great value.
Glen, you live in a much bigger city, there is no way that I would bump into someone else in a kilt that I didn't know in our town!

Graham, I can definitely relate to that, seeing as how my family has lived in this area for over a hundred years, and my mom was a teacher for 32 years.
