New House Highland LOA
Hello Rabble,
Does anyone have any information re: Matthew's circumstances? I see his NHH sponsorship is abated. A request on his NHH Facebook page to "inform us of taking new orders" has gone untouched - not even "liked" by anyoney. An inquiry, by me, as to a speculative ETA for new orders went without response. I just want to know if I need a new kilt maker. I don't want to make what I believe to be a hasty and disrespectful decision, if it is in fact, a matter of patience.

Not sure - I emailed him a week or so ago with a question but haven't had a reply.

Matt had a wee bairn born a bit ago and is likely very busy with all the kids, work, lambing, etc. I know that he has been not taking new kilt orders for awhile while he catches up. He has been present online though. Perhaps he will speak up for himself soon.

I got an email from Matt last month saying that with his work, and other things in his life, he is having to tell customers to expect a one year wait.
He said that he was very sorry for this and felt it unfair to continue to take new orders until he could catch up on the orders he currently has.
So he asked me to take his advertising down temporarily so it would not give the wrong impression.

I've had an order in for 15 months, which as of December when I asked, was still # 9 in his queue, after a year. So I would expect he's been slammed with work. However, I emailed him a few weeks ago suggesting that we reconfirm my measurements which have changed (as I've gained weight over the past year), before he actually starts work on the kilt. I have yet to receive a reply.

Matt is also the House of Cheviot rep in the US and will likely be out of touch at a trade show this weekend.

Cheers Rocky. I knew it had to be something temporary such as that, as I just ordered some Cheviot hose and garters from him a couple of weeks ago, and his communication and delivery was lightening fast via email.

All of this is good to know; I ordered and paid for a vest back in early January. So far...

If you're pining for one of Matt's box-pleat kilts, there's one up on eBay right now...
(they don't even mention which tartan it is)
