    What on earth??

Yes Ebay is full of head-scratchers, but this may take the cake

I have no idea what the purpose of this thing is.

I suspect that if it were arrayed upon a mannequin, it might demonstrate that it appeals to a specific demographic.

Just the thing for wear when sitting on dirty or wet bleacher seats at the Highland games while wearing your kilt...

That's the only use I could see for it!

    Very strange indeed.

Looks like it's designed to go over the back of the kilt to protect it when sitting in less than clean places.

I feel like I should look into one of those for one of the pipers in the band who has a liking of sitting on the ground - even in the dirt.

A rear pleat for the front! Ideal for certain tartan places in Edinburgh!

You can see it's adjustable, you can see it's odd, you can see it's bizarre. Perfectly adequate description if you ask me. And here's a bonus, the guy wearing it does have some familial resemblance to that other fellow who stood proudly in front of the gleaming, steaming Flying Scotsman to show his pleats off. Chortle.

John Bartlett is a designer that can have some off the wall designs. This could be a "let's add some pleats" fashion accessory that makes absolutely no sense without the rest of the outfit, and maybe not even then.

I remember seeing one like this on a fashion show runway. It was worn over pants with the pleats hanging down in the back by some emaciated, but very tanned guy. Sort of a half kilt.

So yea, a high fashion thing for people who can't bring themselves to wear a real kilt. I think the blurb on the fashion show was something like "taking inspiration from the kilt this designer has updated it for the fashion conscious of today.".
You have all heard that sort of thing before.

Makes you sort of wonder how you can improve on perfection?.
