Keep the Home Fires Burning
Besides donning the kilt, what else are you doing in your area to keep the fire of our kinsmen alive and burning strong for you? Music, Highland Games, local events, etc...

The kilt of course, I enjoy the music for sure, I also make my own Sgian dubhs, and I'm fond of making simple walking sticks and canes from what I find on some acreage we have up north

The kilt of course and the music. I'm planning a St. Andrews dinner next month and a Hogmanay celebration.

We have done Tartan Day and St Andrews Day dinners in our home both in AZ and WY. Once we get settled again, we will start the tradition up once more!

Would love to see your work. Do you have an online site where you sell your craft?

I to like Celtic music, the other thing I'm supporting is the Breton language which is having a revival here in Bretagne, both of my daughters are learning it at school, it was starting to die out mainly because the only people left who are fluent are in their 80s, so it was introduced into schools and colleges, most kids prefer learning Breton over the other option of Latin (French and English being a given). A habit I picked up at "quilting bees" in the 1960's at my grandmother's home, was the oral accounts of family lines. My current clients (mostly ladies over 80 years old) are members of the DAR -Daughters of the American Revolution- where family connections are huge! Listening to the tales of families past, I would consider a tradition that, any ethnic group could claim. The migrations and hardships of our early folks lives on in memories and words.

I'm a board member on the Nevada Society of Scottish Clans, we have monthly gatherings and outings. We do tartan day, the Reno Celtic Celebration and a large Burns' dinner.
