First Outing Kilted
Went to Scots on the Rocks this weekend wearing my new UT Kilts Utility II.
Stopped off yesterday morning at Durango Joe's Coffee. Couple construction-looking guys giggled a bit. Little notice and no comment otherwise.
Stopped at the Conoco outside of Dolores Colorado and the woman working said, "Oh! You're wearing a kilt!" I said, yup going to a Scottish festival. She asked several questions about kilts, festivals and I told her about the joy that is haggis.
Made it to the festival and blended in far better than I ever have wearing jeans. Knocked around, joined the Gunns and Wallaces, ate some haggis and a scotch egg, hung around to listen to the music.
Around 5 pm 35*, I began to feel the UT kilt was a bit light for the temps. Long about 7 and 30* I was sure. Went to dinner in town and no one seemed to notice or care but then there were a few of us kilted in the restaurant.
All in all a good outing.
Oh. I ordered 13oz wool kilt in Scottish National from UT when I got home, 'cause it ain't gonna get warmer for a while.

Let us know
Great outing. It is sometimes surprising how few comments I get when kilted.
Let us know how you like the wool. I have his cotton cargo and like it. I'm curious about the wool ones.

Congratulations on a successful first outing - the first of many to come.
And do do let us know what you think of the wool kilt.

Wool is MUCH warmer, and I'd recommend 16 oz. instead of 13 oz.

Welcome to the addiction!
My son lives out in that area, it did indeed get a bit nippy this evening, but he reported a great day otherwise. Glad you enjoyed your first kilt outing. You'll find that as time goes on you get more good comments than bad, and more of people either not noticing, or not caring.
You'll like your wool kilt, just don't forget that it fit differently than your canvas kilt does.

I do like the UT canvas kilt--that's why I went with their wool.
13oz is all they offer, so 16oz wasn't an option.
I'm kinda taking this whole deal in steps--
Step one: get a very reasonably priced utility kilt.
If I don't get mugged, molested or excessively ridiculed, I go to . . .
Step two: get a very reasonably priced universal tartan wool kilt,
If none of the above happens and I don't break out in a rash go to. . .
Step three: Get a mid-priced kit in one of my primary tartans.
Either a traditional, great or small belted kilt.
Step four: Get lotsa kilts in lotsa tartans in lotsa styles.
Declare bankruptcy.

Ha ha ha! Welcome to the club. I'd be well on my way with this if wiser heads didn't prevail.
