Hitting the mean streets of Durango
Well, I wore my UT Utility II three days this week. First real attempt at daily wear.
The first day was mild, only went to City Market. Saw few I knew but they were generally supportive with only a bit of that "lets humor the wee mad bampot" feel. Quite a few looks with furtive double takes. Ran into a friend at the post office who wanted to know where my bagpipes were.
Second day I wandered through the Co-op tire store, the welding supply house, City Market again and the bank.
The most action was at the market where I ran into no less than five employee/friends all of whom were quite complimentary. At the bank and the welding shop the issue was rather pointedly ignored.
The best was at the Co-op. Older guy driving a dump truck was waiting along with me, glanced over a couple times, then said, "Do you always dress like that?" I thought, uh-oh, here it comes. I said, "Well, I'm new at it but probably will quite a lot actually." He looked thoughtful for a second and said, nodding, "Cool." We went on to talk of kilts, Scotland, haggis, deep fried Mars bars and all those things wand'ring about in a kilt brings to the conversational table.
Today I just managed the dentist's, no comment on his part but the receptionist thought it cool.
I'm off to Aztec NM Truck Accessories to pick up a tailgate. Not sure what else is in store for the day. Post office for sure.
Slàinte mhath!
