The addiction
I have plenty of kilts. 4 is really enough for me. I am out of room to store them protected from moths. I promised myself that 2016 would bring no new kilts. (Yes, this includes new-to-me kilts)
I made no such vow about accoutrements.
Wish-surfing ebay last night, I ran across a Cthulhu/R'lyeh tartan kilt with fly plaid and custom argyle hose. I recognized the seller's name as being a former xmarker. (The very fact that he had articles in this tartan was also a clue)
I already have a kilt in the R'lyeh tartan. I really wanted the hose and the fly plaid. It's my intention to repurpose the fly plaid into a bias cut waistcoat.
It's not a kilt, so it doesn't count. But man, my jones is sated...for now.

Some of us remember the XMark member you speak of and his kilt. Are you required to purchase the kilt (package deal) to get the hose and fly plaid?
A question. Is the "jonesing" as bad as a toddler's on Christmas eve, or just feel that way because there is a group that sympathizes with your plight? Dawn is coming soon enough and you can tear into the gifts with glee.

I asked politely and he was willing to part with the fly plaid and hose alone.

@Tarheel
To answer your question about the jones... being an active Xmarker makes it worse! On one hand, the sympathy one finds here is somewhat comforting, but what happens is I get excited about something new and I post about it. Then others get excited about what I am getting. Then I get more excited. Before I know it, I am checking the tracking number 3x/hour. I even work at home on scheduled delivery days just so I can get my hands on whatever it is faster.
But what do you tell a child excited about Santa? "Go to sleep. Santa won't come if you don't go to sleep"

The tartan is the cause of the addiction, the wool is it's transport medium. You put on the wool tartan and the wool scratches and injects tartan into the wearer. this results in a mild madness to buy more tartan...
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.

I am good mates with the ex-Xmarker mentioned above. I told me about your contacting him and my thoughts on breaking up the set. I am glad the items found a new home and keep us posted on the waistcoat project!!!

The Waistcoat!
I don't know why this completely cuts my head off. The source image is fine. Just click the picture

I might have preferred a continuous pattern as opposed to the mirror image, but it works for me.

...And you wear it well.
I hear talk of "color wheels" and palates to match skin tone and hue. I think Ms. Estee Lauder would change advertisers if she saw how this vest and hose brighten your presence. Good for you my friend.

Looks great on you!
I'm glad that part of the kit went to a good home. It looks amazing on you. Great job with the plaid, turning it into a waistcoat. Look'n good!
"REMEMBER!"

There is plenty of material remaining, so I am actually having another vest made with the pattern continuous.
Welcome back KC!
