Do any of you do casual kilt or full dress?
Hello all,
I was wondering, do many kilt wearers do casual dress with it, like hiking, hunting, strolling or full dress only? I only have the kilt and a shirt. I not have any dressy stuff. I prefer the casual wear or look anyway.

Hi, hey. I run the gamut. Very rarely I've been known to wear t-shirts and athletic shoes with a kilt whilst at work. Typically, a nice button down shirt and a sweater/jumper is as casual as I go. But that is because I'm something of a dandy and like getting dressed. Also, being a minister, a tie and jacket is the status quo (for me clericals are typically reserved for hospital visits and weddings). Kilt attire is also my go to for black and (the ever so rare) white tie events.

I think if you take a quick look through the "Show us your pics" forum section you will see that quite a few of our members dress in a very similar manner to your photo.

If I attend a formal or "dressy" event, I frequently wear a kilt and the appropriate accessories. I certainly don't wear a kilt every day, but I look forward to Scottish themed events, of which there may be 6-10 in this area. To those I'll wear whatever level of casualness is indicated by the event or the weather. (This is Texas and it is often HOT.) I prefer to wear a tartan kilt as it is more compatible with the Scottish connection I'm suggesting.

Another section here well worth exploring, go to; "The Traditional Kilt Section" and look at the first thread, there are a whole assortment of pictures there that work through all the dress stages. At this stage of your kilt wearing life, it matters not which section the pictures reside, what you need is ideas. Good luck!

Your outfit looks fine (to me). Others will disagree, I'm sure, but that is the way I often dress - for total comfort.
I kilt up at the casual level probably 95% of the time and I kilt up several times a week. Right now I've got on flip-flops and a polo with one of my UT Kilts (olive color). I'm working at home but I have also gone out on a few errands today. The only time I "dress up" is for a [more] formal gathering such as a St. Georges Society meeting or "formal night" on a cruise.
Here's a shot of me on the beach with an AmeriKilt. It was late November and the sand was too cold for flips.

I see a bike on your patio. If you get to Faunsdale, Ala. in the Fall for a "biker" rally, you might see utility kilts on many former military. Besides the kilt, most of the men will be dressed for the climate. That would be t-shirts during the day (if warm) and leather jackets during the night (if chilly). The foot wear will be appropriate for the conditions also.
Think of what you would wear with your kilt for the situation.
