Historic red tartans?
In portraits of important Campbels some are wearing red tartan. In the first attached photo the kilt appears to be a genuine representation of the subject's kilt.
I was wondering is it?
Could it be the tartan Campbell of Armaddie? Or Cambell of Lochlane?
Or something else altogether.
Another portrait shows another Campbell in a different red tartan ( see second photo) is this genuine representation of historic tartan or artistic license?j
