Too many nasties going about this year.

After getting over the stomach bug, only 3-4 weeks later we get attacked by the chest infection. That thing was a knockout with temperatures doing yoyo up to 39C and back.

That is the ONLY time in a year, I had to give up on the kilt for a week.
In fact for 3 days almost too weak to get out of bed..

Finally when all is almost over and the "earthquake" cough subsiding I went for a swim in the local lake. I reckon it was 6-8C.

The kilt had got filthy, so I smothered it as usual in detergent went for a swim, and then walked shirtless for the 800m or so to the showers.
Driving after, indications it was 5C, pouring rain, in fact in buckets.

You only get wet once, but after the sudden heat after leaving the water, it was for a HOT shower. (This lake is a man made, summer vacation thing, but in November there is nothing but swans and ducks).

The sensation of washing a kilt while wearing it, in HOT water, as it turns from cold to warm is difficult to describe.
It took the rest of the day to dry, this time hung up close to a radiator.

Feeling much better this evening with a clean kilt, it was all a bit overdue.
