			kilt belt question

as this is my first kilt belt i've ordered, i may have mis-calculated ...
i ordered a medium 33-39" leather belt from the kilt store [btw, very congenial and fast service
  ].
the belt is about 2.25" wide and has narrow strip that apparently buckles to a clasp on the inside and about the middle of the wide portion. my kilts are 38" waist. and fit well. so i thought the 39 would handle but apparently not
  .
anyway. how are these belts supposed to work.

sorry for such a novice question...

 regards,

 ambrose

Are you refering to the way in which you attach the Buckle.
My kilt belt has a fast loop of metal that a hook on the buckle fastens to.
The belt length can be adjusted by the thinner strap and a buckle on the iback of the belt.

I have seen velco types too. I'm of the opinion that maybe velco had been a better way to go. That said I havn't discovered any wear to the kilt as yet because of the little buckle

Hope this is of some help....David

			Re: kilt belt question

I struggled with this decision when I bought my first kilt belt. Consequently, I inquired of the woman at the Utilikilts store who advised I buy a large (38"/40")for my 33" waist. It is waaaay too large for me, but I poked a coupla new holes in it and push the buckle to the side so that the end is held in place by a belt loop on my PK.

For my nice kilt belts, I measured around my waist while wearing my bulkiest kilt and then ordered belts 2" larger. My waist is 33" bare, roughly 34" around with kilt. A size 35" belt would have fit perfectly but wasn't available, so I ordered a 36", and it works fine.

Since all of my belts are of the old fashioned buckle type, I am not sure about how your belt clasps, so I cannot comment on that.

I may be wrong, but it looks as though you need the buckle. Fancier belts come this way so that you can pair the belt style of your choice with your buckle of choice.

haha, no doubt .... no problem ,, ordered a buckle as well under FI pressure.
so the way it looks, you slide the buckle over the narrow strip and onto the wider portion, fold the narrow strip back through a leather loop wrapped around the belt and then buckle the narrow strip to the inside belt clasp.

sounds like a plan and if thats the case then i mis-calculated by about two inches. seems my wife mentioned that when we first got married.
