Another tartan id question
Hello All,
I have (hopefully) attached an image of the tartan I am making a kilt from.
Unfortunately I don't know which tartan it is.
Can someone identify it for me please.
Many thanks
Terry

I think I found it, it's one of the "County Crest" Irish tartans, County Down
Lovely tartan by the way!
How will you be pleating it?

Thanks
Thanks for getting back to me OC Richard.
Its particularly interesting to me that its an Irish tartan, as my father was born in Dublin.
Its quite a colourful fabric
The kilt is box pleated, pleated to the sett with one pleat per 1.5 setts. Just need to attach the buckles and straps and lining....

You're welcome!
Just to be clear, there's nothing traditional about that tartan, it was part of a mass-tartan-design in 2005 by Viking Technology Limited to market tartans for every Irish county, based on the colours of each county's crest.

I'm guessing that that project was inspired by the House Of Edgar 1986 project of marketing tartans for every Irish county, and by the pushback in some quarters due to the HOE tartans ignoring the colours associated with the counties (as seen, for example, on the county GAA uniforms).
I love the HOE project due to it being pure old-school tartan design, the colours and patterns chosen for their attractiveness alone, in most cases.

Extra info
Thanks for that additional information.
I'm not that bothered about the age of the tartan; but it is good to be able to answer the question "what tartan is that?" when I'm out and about.

Usually people tear through this song far too fast. Here's a slower version

Great, but I'm not sure I want to carry a portable music system around with me!

You could learn the whistle part. I'm sure one of those can fit in your sporran.
