    Traveling with the Kilt

Well, I've been back in sunny (freakin' hot) Florida (FLA. USA) from a trip up north to New Jersey (NJ - USA). I wore my new USAK P/V Scruffy Wallace. Great kilt (ummm...not a Great Kilt but a darned nice one...)! Two flight legs up and one down, a trip to Central Park and the CP Zoo (very exciting first transit and subway ride for my son), an excursion to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty plus a drive from NJ to Maryland (MD).

For other newbies (like me) contemplating air travel whilst kilted, I can recommend it - no issues whatsoever. I did pack the kilt pin in checked luggage and had no problems with my jerry-rigged buckle badge-come magnetic kilt pin.

The socks are a bit low but these are the ones from sockdreams - they're nice and light but not as long as regular kilt hose.

(I see the pictures are sideways although they appear right side up on my computer - not sure how to fix that.)

These are from our (my son, my dad and my) trip to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. We visited the pedestal only - if you want to go up to the top you apparently need to make reservations months in advance.

    Very enjoyable nonetheless.

My dad walked the 300 steps (295 but who's counting) to the top of pedestal - at the age of 80. Told him halfway up that if needed mouth to mouth at any point he's probably going to die.

Anyway, here are the pics so it did happen

When I click your photos, they show right-side-up and larger (as intended). I like the roomy sporran you have there. I can see how that accommodates carrying items (when away from home or vehicle) easier. Thanks for posting.

Great to see how nicely the USA Kilt in P/V hangs on you. I just ordered a Casual in Irish National from them today, my first! (I'm 51% Irish. )

I believe there are many here, myself included, who would say your hose are an excellent length. No need to apologize.

I second that! For many kilt wearers, it seems from photographs, they are doing their best to hide their knees. Are they bashful? Perhaps they are scared they might get cold, or take in too much sunshine in warmer months? Who knows, but hidden knees are, in my opinion, not a good look.
