My three thoughts are; don't put it on/over your shirt, wear black shirts, or find a different strap.

Another thought....maybe try wetting and rubbing/ washing or scrubbing the leather until stain stops coming off.

Another thing is to use clear, wax type, shoe polish to seal the leather. Especially on the rough inside of the strap.

Thanks Steve, I will give that a try and the wear it about the house for a day over a old white T-Shirt. If i had a better figure I would not have to have the back just above the top of the kilt to keep it from sliding down around my Knees "LOL"

Before you seal the leather, would be a good idea to take a piece of sheeps wool or some kind of buffing pad and buff vigorously to remove the excess dye.

I wouldn't recommend those. May get a smaller strap? Even if built like a pole, if sized correctly, it shouldn't slide down.

Well I am more like a upside down pear "LOL" I do wear my kilt about 1.5-2" above my navel and have the Sporran where it sets right at the V in the center of my waist coat.
guess I may have to just go with all chain?

I have never been a fan of the gear most sell. I took all the chain straps I have to a local leatherworks shop. I had the chains cut to equal the mid point of my hips to the sporran, and had these attached to custom belts. I have enough holes to cover any reasonable weight loss or gain. So as long as my kilt fits, these chain/belt/straps well carry me through.
This may no be an option for you, but try moving the end of the chain that connects to the sporran further back on the chain. If it works, cut those links off. Be sure to do it evenly on both sides.
