which shoes are better with a kilt?
Looking for opinions on which shoe is better with a kilt. I would wear these with a tweed jacket as day wear
Two questions -
1- Sole - do you like the thicker sole on the wingtip brogue?
2 - style - do you like the cap toe or wingtip?
Thanks for taking the time to comment -

I think both look great. I generally prefer brogues though because they are a more interesting shoe, but that's just personal opinion.

I agree, but it is purely a personal choice, nothing more. Thinner soles look better than thick , to my eye and are much more versatile. I also think leather soles add hugely to the versatility as well.

Well, perhaps not surprisingly, I prefer the other option, that being cap toe shoes. I am sure many would say that brogues are more traditional, but I like the simplicity of cap toe shoes with the kilt. This seems like such a minor detail, but there is so much going on with kilted attire and so for this on article I think less is more. I do agree with Jock that the thinner soles are a better look. As has been said; this is all simply personal preference.

I have 2 styles of day footwear, 1 in black and 1 in brown. Both are military shoes. Therefore, my black version is a Highland Division brogue, burnt down save for the toe, and then bulled. My brown version being the army No 2 Dress variant are Oxfords and highly bulled all over. Both work well with a Cilt. Ironically, in jeans (''the devil's cloth'') I wear brown wing tip brogues...! A man can never have too many...
