Houston (TX) Highland Games
Houston Highland Games are back on. This year is a one day event at the Humble Event Center on Sept 21st. (Same place as Humble Civic Center).
Maybe doing them on the NW side of town will get a better turn out. I sent in our reservation for clan space yesterday.

I'm planning on being there as well. Glad to see that they were able to schedule a makeup date!
See you there!

Thanks for the update. Sadly, I'll be out of town that day.

Despite the flooding...
I emailed the Clan Coordinator for the Houston Highland Games and was assured that, despite the recent flooding, the games are on.
I also confirmed this with the Humble Civic Center, where the event is taking place.
I'm still going and hope to see you (BD) there!
Cheers,
SM

Shawn;
Thanks for the update. I just emailed Norm and gave him my number but hadn't heard anything.
We'll head that way after we finishing packing the truck.

Good luck guys! Hope you have a good turn out. Could be a good diversion from a bad situation.
Sorry I can't make it. Don't forget your "wellies."
Send some of that water this way we need it.
Looking forward to seeing ya'll (Texas speak) a Kerrville.

I would try ... except that would drag the whole soggy system back over the neighborhood. And I need clear enough weather to make my early morning flight tomorrow.
I can empathize about the drought, though. The dry ground was causing our foundation to shift so much that my wife couldn't shoot the deadbolt on the back door (and it took some serious effort for me to do it). Now, 12" of rain later (30cm for the rest of the world), the foundation is back where it belongs and the deadbolt is as smooth as silk.
I'm still planning to attend the Salado games with my wife and father-in-law. Hope to meet y'all there. (Too bad the Houston games were rescheduled to an inconvenient weekend.... Inconvenient for me.)

We'll miss you Karl, but for everyone else the site is high and dry. The clan area is in the Arena so we are under cover. Anyone not sure yet, come on.

For those of you who missed it, the Houston Highland Games were pretty good (for a reconstituted game that was only one day long at the end of a week of regional flooding). The turn out in the morning was good, and they had the pipe and drum bands moving around to keep everyone interested and moving around to see the clans, vendors and highland games. There was no rain on Saturday, but it was hot and muggy- but that is normal for Houston. They are planning the same venue for next year so hopefully more will come out and support Scottish events in SE Texas.

I'm glad to hear that it went well. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid schedule conflicts next year.
It looks like we'll be making it to Salado in November, so hopefully I'll get a chance to meet up with many of you there.
