Pictures of kilts - weathered red tartans
Hello everyone,
If you have pictures of "predominantly red" weathered tartan kilts, I would greatly appreciate it if could post them.
I've already looked at the weathered tartans on Lochcarron's site, but I find it somewhat challenging to picture the "finished product" based on these images…
At this stage, I'm particularly interested in the following weathered red tartans: Bruce, Cameron of Lochiel, Fraser red, Fraser of Lovat/clan, Robertson, Matheson, MacIntosh, MacGregor - but any other would be useful for me too!
Thanks in advance for your help.
Alain

Not sure how weathered this is as relates what you're after, but here's Red Gordon in polyviscose from USA kilts

Thanks!
Thanks to everyone for the pictures! Tomo, you have 3 great kilts! It is really useful for me to see the 3 variants side by side. Is your MacFarlane weathered pleated to sett or stripe? If to stripe, which one and could you please add a picture if possible? Greatly appreciated. Alain

Yes Tomo that's a great photo! A picture is worth a thousand words, as they say.
A popular tartan amongst Pipe Bands is Weathered MacLean Of Duart
![](https://i.imgur.com/VrXBAt6.jpg)
It's popularity is probably due to it being worn by Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band.
Here's a nice photo which shows the front and rear of their band kilts.
Looks like they might have done a special weave with a more bluish tint, with the green stripes lighter

The photo is also interesting showing girl/boy/girl/boy/girl/boy/girl/boy. A generation ago women played in separate "Ladies' Pipe Bands".

This colourway is something of a cross between Old and Muted Colours, it certainly has none of the characteristics of the Weeathered range.

Hi Alain
The weathered is pleated to set. The modern is pleated to stripe - but it's back home in the UK, I'll see if I can get hold of a picture showing the pleats.
