Duke of Rothesay - surprise visit to Glenisla Games

Glenisla is in East Scotland about 50 miles from where I'm sitting.
The Games field is very narrow - you can see the road in the background and the cameraman must be practically in the river. Health and safety is a little difficult when the heavies get going!
This is Ogilvie country. I believe that is the Earl of Airlie showing the Duke round.

    Lovely clip.
Anyone know the tartan that the lady in the aqua top is wearing? (I think it’s the Countess)
Glad to see it’s a kilt not a pleated skirt, although I noticed it closes on the left.

I love the mish mash of assorted fashions and styles of everyone in the clip
Male and female... there’s not one “twue” way to dress in a kilt, just good taste (generally) and common sense for the weather and location.

Thanks Neelon for this post. The turnout seemed a good deal larger than I would have expected.

My mum-in-law used to stay summers with her granny in Glen Isla and the house is now a vacation property. She and her brother and sister went back and stayed there years ago and attended the games .

When we were there a few years ago we stopped at the Glen Isla Hotel and had a nice tea after visiting the church yard. We continued on and walked round the area of her granny's place, where she used to walk down to get the cream from the farmer, the posh house down the road where they used to have parties and she and her siblings would spy through the windows etc. Just picture an idealised, pastoral Scottish landscape and you won't be far off. I remember thinking 'I could die here' Beautiful area. I have actually spent the last week looking for the pics from that portion of the trip since a recent hard drive crash. Remember to back up your drives my friends!

Lady Grey, I have heard that traditionally (yeah, there is that word, whatever it really means ) kilts for ladies open opposite to those made for men though they are alike in other aspects of construction. I believe the standard right side opening is becoming or has become , well, the standard regardless of gender

Thanks for sharing the post. I really like his Jacket Waistcoat. I like the look of what I think is a new "contamporary" look, so to speak, without completely re-designing the look. very smart.

The tartan is Ogilvie, here's a photo from the event.

    Exactly so.
