    I'm back from Ireland

Well, I got back on Wednesday. It was great fun, though I ended up spending too much money in Dublin. Funny, I'd go to the pub with a pocket of cash and walk out with nothing. How did that happen?

One of the first things that happened when I arrived was that a lot of school children got on the bus I was on. Of course, all the girls were wearing plaid skirts as part of their uniforms. They got a kick out of seeing me in a kilt.

No one in Ireland knows about the Irish kilt tradition. A few older people, once I reminded them of the saffron kilts, remembered that, but for the most part everyone asked where in Scotland I was from. It was a great conversation starter in pubs, though, and within five minutes I was always sitting at someone's table in conversation. And of course the Irish tradition of buying drinks for everyone at your table is a good one. Girls in Ireland (just as everywhere else) like kilts. Over and over they told me how gorgeous and sexy I was. A couple of girls asked for their photo with me, and I implemented my policy of picture-for-picture, so I put two photos up in my gallery of me with girls.

Now I'm back, and have to get a job, after being a bum for eight months. I hope I can find one that lets me wear a kilt, but we'll see....

Sounds like a great time Andrew. I can only relate too well to blowing too much cash in Dublin (Belfast was worse!).

It's funny that you mention being kilted in Dublin. The first person I can ever remember meeting that wore kilts daily and casually was Dave Stewart,a Scot that my wife and I met in Dublin. We were all on a midnight ferry from Dublin back to Glasgow, via Wales and a 4hr lay over in Manchester airport(saw Man United come through after winnign Champions Leauge 2 days earlier). Dave and I got quite tipsy on single malt and McEwans 70 and talked alot about kilts and heritage. He was a good egg. Played tour guide for us in Glasgow and make did the city proud.

Glad to have you back Andrew.

It happens due to a little known creature called the Irish pub gnome. They sneak into your sporran and slowly siphon money out.

Glad to hear that you had such a great trip, Andrew! You've had quite the adventuresome year! I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't jealous.

Glad to have you back! Good luck with the job hunt too.

They have them in the USA too. There is also a viler creature that attacks your checking and charge accounts. It is called the Kilt Leprechaun

Oh yeah, I was on a Musical Pub Crawl in Dublin, where you follow a couple of musicians around from pub to pub and they play and talk about traditional Irish music. Lots of fun, good music, and good information. Part of the event was to invite people up to sing (in front of the group of 50 or so people on the pub crawl). I got up and sang "The Scotsman" - when I went up one of the musicians commented on the kilt, and we joked a bit, then I sang it. The next day I was walking along the street, and someone said from behind me, "I see you've won first prize!" Of course I was recognised, being kilted. Just doing my part to spread kilted cheer and joy.
