    Pittsburgh Kilt

    All,
I just wanted to give Jeff at Pittsburgh Kilt some major kudos! I received my flannel lined denim kilt a few days ago, and this is the best made, most comfortable kilt I have found. I've got Utilikilts, Sportkilts, and Amerikilts, and while all aer excellent, this one is just amazing!

    Excellent job Jeff!

Ain't it a treat!!?? Jeff's great, he's doing a custom (am I crazy or what??) Arizona flag kilt for me now. Have two other PKs that are wonderful. That under apron pocket is great for weighting down the apron in the wind, I just toss in a large pocketknife or my wallet.

If you like buying from a custom house like PK be sure to check out www.freedomkilts.com too. Steve gives the same great service.

Sometimes I feel like a kid in a candy store, sampling all the UKs, PKs, AKs, FKs, SKs and soon a USAK, and (gasp!) a hand sewn traditional from Kathy's Kilts in New Mexico...

What really sold me was the ease with which he added my custom request! One thing that has bothered me about my other kilts is the lack of an easy to access place to put a pocket knife. I mentioned in my email that I would like a pocket on the waist, and not only was it not a problem, he came up with a much better placement, on the apron, above the wallet pocket. I will definitley be ordering more!

Yep, Jeff'll do that. I have four Pittsburgh Kilts, and no two are alike.

Actually, I take the fact that Jeff makes so many customizations as proof of his workmanship. Other kiltmakers will only customize under duress and at great expense, as they have to find a way to sell a customized model if it's returned. So, since Jeff is still customizing every kilt, that probably means that his rate of return is very low, maybe zero.

Well, I'm about to start negotiating my fifth PK.

Between Bear's unequalled quality in craftsmanship, and Jeff's unequalled flexability in customs and craft... how come there's not more talk on these guys? The rapidly-growing reputation with the Freedom Kilts is amazing too!

Anybody out there actually own all three of these?
Anybody out there actually own any two of these?

I would LOVE to see some real comparisons on the stitching, apron width, pleat "tightness", hip fit, craftsmanship and pleat puckering (or lack of it).

Two Freedom Kilts, CADPAT and desert camo. Great workmanship and I like the "jean" button closures.

Two Pittsburgh Kilts, forest MARPAT and desert MARPAT.

And, Jeff is starting work on an "Arizona Flag" three color kilt for me. Royal Blue kilt, alternating red and yellow underpleat colors (like the sun rays on the Arizona flag). Royal Blue "sporran" with a yellow center pleat. Gonna tack a mini Arizona flag on the back pocket flap.

The "Sporran" flap will have crossed cavalry sabers emblem on it...maybe a larger Arizona flag patch too.

Hope its as purdy as the image in my mind.

Jimmy, I wish that some of these guys were worse at customer service, or their products were inferior in some way. I now have a big problem. I want one new kilt, but I'm looking at at least 3 because, I cant choose between these guys.

Just the PK's so far. I've had a Bear Kilt on order since June; no idea when that's gonna arrive. When it does, I can compare them.

In the meantime, hey, I can order a Freedom Kilt. I wasn't planning on getting one but, why not, anything for science.
