Its Working!!
When my first kilt arrived a few months ago I resolved to go kilted about town whenever I could, on my own time. And I have.
I live in a rural town of 7,000 out in the canyonlands of Arizona, 140 miles to the nearest city of any size. We're a redneck, Navajo, Mormon town.
Today I took my first venture out in my new black UK workman's. Added black Wolverine boots and a Pendleton Jacket with black leather sleeves.
Went to the local Harvest Festival at the City park. A Navajo lady said, "Nice Kilt." Just straightforward and matter of fact.
Then at the supermarket a young Navajo guy said the same words, "Nice Kilt."
Wow, two in one day. Hiked the local tourist trail and met a couple from Aberdeen, Scotland who never said a word about it, just seemed to accept the kilt.
But dang, TWO "nice kilts" from Navajos in a few hours...that's a first.
Course the black UK Workman's is a dazzling kilt.

"I'll have a kilt please, a nice hand sewn tartan, 16 ounce Strome. Oh, and a sporran on the side, with a strap please."

Ron,
Those simple and to the point comments are what kilt wearing is all about, none of that silly stuff of why the kilt, or what you got on underneath.
Great story!

Ron that is great! I've never had any problems with the local Mescalero's concerning my kilts, keep it up brother.

While standing outside my shop, an elderly native man, who kind of looked like Chief Dan George, was walking by. He carried a walking stick and wore a wide brimmed hat with two feathers hanging from the back of it. His head was proudly high. He stopped and pointed at my kilt with his stick.
"I respect that." he said.
I grinned and nodded at him and he continued on his way.
