Ivory buttons on jackets?
I was wondering if anyone’s tried ivory coloured buttons on casual tweed jackets like crail, braemar, & argyll. Not keen ob metal buttons, but the standard deer antler buttons seem a but muted against the tweeds used for these jackets. Does anyone have any photos of examples? I’m sure it must have been done before, but it would be good to see examples, I think the contrast of the button would look neat.

Have you thought about leather buttons? They are traditional and effective.

Of course, they are as common as antler buttons from what I can gather, but I personally hate the look of them, no idea why. Just not to my taste, maybe it's because they're a bit bulky & perhaps the texture.

Fair enough. I hope you don’t mind me asking?
From your many questions on this website, you do lead me to the conclusion that you are trying to “reinvent the wheel” with kilt attire and with your “out of the box” questions, but to what end?
It is of course entirely your affair, but you have certainly got me wondering. Thus far my traditional mind is not imagining a great success in the end result going on the train of thought leading from your questions. Time will tell perhaps?

Is anything I asked really that revolutionary?

Well, your many questions do lead one to think so.

Haha no worries I took no exception to it. Having come from a background in studying historical saxon tailoring, I suppose that hobby has certainly made me enquire some things a bit more, things that might normally be assumed without question.

I am glad that you have not taken exception to my question. However, you have certainly succeeded in getting my imagination going, if nothing else!

Well, it may not surprise you at this point to note I particularly love studying how inventive these victorians could be with their doodads! I've read many a patent regarding shirt studs, braces & other creative mechanisms to make life easier. Especially false bib front shirts & pretied ties--the edwardians loved those!
Especially full dress (white tie) has had the most "tech" incorporated into it!

Only today I came across an old white tie vest, backless model, that had a buttonhole behind the right pocket only--left my head scratching! Maybe i'll find an answer! The obvious answer would seem to be for the pocket watch chain, but I cannot imagine what the watch would be doing on the other side!
