New Youth Director! Help!

Hi there Kilted Rabble,

I have just been appointed the new Youth Director with the OttScots.( the Ottawa Scottish Society)
A new position with in the society looking to recrute more kids and young adults (0-20) as well as provide fun activity's. I need help coming up with ideas for events and activity's that would interest younger people that also would be separate from a general all ages event. the first idea I had was playing a few rounds of Mini-Golf in the spring since Golf was invented by the Scots and curling in the winter, also invented by the Scots. Im glad I got appointed this position since i am the youngest member in the society,(23) with the average member being 40+.

Any and all ideas would be welcomed. Thanks!

Would love to help you but I gave up anything to do with youth about 70 years ago.

Hi Patty, I’m just too old now I will be 85 in November, if I make it to then. I have lots of medical issues. Good luck to you on all of your endeavors.

I first encountered shinty in an episode of Hamish MacBeth. Then one night down at the pub I asked the Glaswegian owner about it and his eyes lit up. He told us his dad had been a shinty coach, and then recounted a time when he saw a player come off the field with his eyeball hanging out of its socket. They popped it back in and sent him back out on the field. “I swear to god I saw it with my own eyes!” he insisted.
