Pleating Opinion
Hello!
I’m having an 8-yard kilt made in the MacInnes Hunting Ancient tartan and just received my pleating options. I’ve narrowed it down to the two I like most, but I’m having trouble making a final decision. To the yellow stripe is great due to the contrast between the yellow and black, but I don’t really love yellow. I really like ‘to the black/blue/black’, but not sure if it looks too “lawn chair-y”. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Photos of each in replies.

Matt, I like both options, but having looked intensely at both of them, I think #2 (w/o yellow vertical stripes) wins over #1. But it is very close, say 52 vs 48. If it was me, and I had decided for #2 and the kilt maker made a mistake and pleated my kilt like #1, I shouldn't complain.
Probably, this answer is not helping you much further but it is the best I can come up with.
Good luck with your new kilt.

I like the yellow stripe option best, as it's a bit stronger visually. While I have kilts pleated both to the sett and to the stripe, I've gotten to where I prefer pleating to the stripe, as it's more interesting IMHO.

The kilt maker sent that one along as well, but the red didn’t really stand out, and to me it looked the most lawn-chairs of all the options.
