A Supportive Wife
Folks, I just wanted to share an experience concerning this past Saturday . My wife and I had planned to attend the Jackson's Mill Arts and Crafts Show near Weston, W.V. That morning I informed my wife that I was going to wear my kilt to the show. I don't get the opportunity to wear my kilt as often as I'd like, so I wasn't certain of her reaction. She turned towards me and said " Cool, which kilt are you going to wear, your clan kilt or your new Black Watch." I chose my new Black Watch. Well, when I tried to get dressed, my wife took down my kilt and insisted on dressing me. That was a first! I was surprised as I watched her correctly strap on my kilt, and put on my hose and garters. She smiled and told me that she had studied up on Scottish dress, and even wants to make make a utility kilt for me. Boy, was I surprised! All that day I felt proud having a wife who loved to see me in a kilt, and show such an interest. Sorry to ramble, but I am a lucky man.

I could have posted the exact same story with one minor difference...
...it would have ended with me waking up!
You, sir, are one lucky man!

Indeed you are! After several years mine is still "hesitant" when ever I don me kilts. Count your blessings where you can.

Mine is still new to the Kilt, and a bit "hesitant" as well. I'm hoping to TRULY win her over by taking her to the local St. Andrew's Tartan Ball this Autumn. I'm guaranteed to be more fit than the balance of the men there (most are septuagenarians) , and she loves my legs (and that I go Regimental).
She's less enthused about it all when it's a "What will our son's school parents think?" situation.

Now, why I find this quotation so familiar?

That's a guid woman you have there! Treat her special!
My wife surprised me the other day too. We were getting dressed to go to the local Intertribal Powwow (held every year on the Labor Day weekend) where various Indian tribes get together for dancing, etc. She told me she thought I should wear my kilt. And even more surprising, it was me that said no, it wasn't a good idea. I felt it would be disrespectful to them, taking attention away from their tribal dress in this area where a kilt is not usually seen. But I'm glad she's thinking that way!
Almost nothing in life can stoke a man's confidence like the support of a good woman.

It actually isn't that bad of an idea, your wife's. Prior mid-19th century Manifest Doctrine, the Tribal Nations and the Scottish Immigrants often were closely allied or good trading partners.
I've been to some dances were Grass dancers had tartan, or almost tartan colorations, to the traditional "strings" hanging from their dress (like for example one dancer who had the Black Watch sett if you take out the horizontal crossing of the sett). You might find this type of chose when the dancer's ancestry is both Tribal and Scottish.
