    Future birthplaces

Quoth Julian in the thread "Kilts and Military Uniforms":

"Talking about Scotty from Star Trek( I just loved the original Star Trek) the town of Linlithgow a few miles from Edinburgh has been logged as the birthplace of Scotty. Now we have the councillors of Linlithgow erecting a statue to their most famous son who has not even been born yet!"

    Check this out:

...I just have to go to their town festival.

I love the fact that the citizens of Holmforth, the town used in Last of the Summer Wine, are putting up a statue of Compo as well...

An original Iowan here, I must warn you about going to anywhere in Iowa. First, they are usually extremely nice people (unless they are Iowa State Fans). Since it's on 218, it's pretty safe you're in Hawkeye country.
Second, if you love country side and country life, you'll love Iowa.
Third, if they actually have an organized event, check it out before hand, check other sites to see what there is actually to do. The land there is flat and you could fall asleep at the wheel anygivin time, so you don't want to waste a trip for something that could cause you to leave soon after arriving. Best not to drive when sleepy in Iowa.

Is this heaven, no it's Iowa!

As the descendant of a long line of "Iowa Scots", all I can say is*...

    Amen, Padre!

*Except for the comments about ISU. At least you didn't go after UNI!

You really ought to give Iowa a try!

That is some serious Trek dedication I cannot think of any work of fiction that has such a following except maybe Lord of the Rings.

AA, if it's all the same to you, I would rather just go back to Linlithgow. Iowa is nice and all, but Alba...
