    Store the fly plaid

I just bought me a fly plaid, since I've never needed it before. Wearing it is'nt the big problem, but rather how I should store it. It was all neatly folded when I got it in the mail. Now it's just on a hanger since I got way too enthusiastic and felt like a little boy on christmas day.

Any of you have a nice way of folding it? Or is it best to just leave it on a hanger. (the tricky part is the seam)

What seam are you talking about? I keep mine gathered at one corner where it goes over the shoulder, and hang it from a peg on the wall by that gather. If you store it for a long period between wearings you should put it in a dry-cleaners bag to prevent moth infestation.

I drape mine over an old wooden suit hanger and keep it stored in a hanging wardrobe bag in the closet with some cedar chips.

Mine's rolled up and kept in the same tin trunk as my kilts and other highland paraphernalia-- if necessary I'd run an iron over it before I wore it if I thought it too badly wrinkled to hang out once I put it on.

That said, I can't imagine too many time when I'd wear it, so rolling, folding, or hanging is pretty much a moot point with me.

Thanks. I will just leave it on my hanger then. I just don't want to do anything wrong with it. After all, it's more than just a piece of cloth.

(By the seam; I mean the seam that is put in from the tailor to make it more easy to make it look good for a starter that does not wear it too much.)

Mine is pleated in one corner, through which I have it pinned to the jacket I had tailored from an old suit coat. I leave it pinned to the jacket, which hangs in my closet. That way, I just put on the jacket, make sure "that miserable scrap of tartan" is hanging right, and out the door I go.
