I have a belt design that I'm working on because I too feel that the "normal" kilt belt is flawed. As for the heavy kilt I went from a sportkilt (ultralight) to a 8 or 9 yard knife pleat (ultraheavy) to a doublebox pleated kilt (just right). I don't think the weight of the kilt makes it more uncomfortable. I would much rather wear a ultra heavy kilt rather than one that's 4 yards and under 11 oz.

Thank you all for the feedback, the conclusion is as follows...
I only have two buckles and not three, so I may get one added, ....but, 2 is easier to adjust than 3, so I might just leave it.
My body type probably doesn't help...ie God blessed me with fat that only seems to go to my Love handles! He's also blessed me with an aversion to the Gym! A double joke me suspects.
Dispense with traditional square kilt belts! ....Sorted, just bought a very nice regular one from a leather craftsman and designer in the town center today...result.
I also conclude that heavyweights are just heavy....and unless on a nudist holiday, I'm just going to have to live with it.
