I often wear the kilt without kilt hose. I wear kilt hose when the weather warrants it. When it's hot out or I'm working out, I'd be wading in sweat if I were wearing thick wool socks! Wear what you want - the kilt is a garment, not a costume! When I hike or run I wear low crew socks, that only come up to my ankles. When I run I don't wear a sporran. Wear the kilt for comfort, because you want to. Especially while doing active sports, there's no need to make it a fashion show!
