It Arrived!
So my wife and I left on Monday for a backpacking trip into the Uinta Mountains (I would post photos but they are completely non-kilt related). Her first actually. I had hopes that my balmoral would arrive before I left on the trip, sadly it did not. However, after we got home from our trip (cut short because of issues with our gear.) I found it waiting on the dining room table!
So the following photo is of the bonnet before I go through the "jocking" process. The bonnet is the "Regalia" color, a non-stock color per Mackie's.

I second that! Welcome aboard! Below is my most recent addition to my own Mackie bonnet collection, a diced Lovat Green Balmoral, also ordered from Chris (Redshank) at Dunadd Trading Company.

Cheers,

David,
It is close to the saxe blue color. However, it is a bit darker. I was sent a few swatches of the colors I was considering (lovat green and saxe blue) This color was included as an option.
The saxe blue is a bit lighter almost a baby blue if you will. The royal blue is a bit darker. This "Regalia" is in between the two. It was discribed to me as a "mid blue" through my correspondence with Mackies and Redshanks.

Hi, Paul – like you I have ordered from Robert Mackie, and I can barely wait to see how my bonnet comes out.
Bucking the X Marks trend I made inquiries about a military-style tammie, rather than a balmoral, but an old-fashioned style – the kind worn during the First World War.
I wanted something resembling my old army tammie (which is naturally khaki), but with a bit more dash to it. (Of the colours they offered me, I chose dark green. I would have preferred blue.)
They were hesitant at first, but once I had supplied pictures from X Marks of First World War troops, and a Second World War jock wearing an old-style bonnet, they said they would try it as a once-off item.
I will post pictures when it arrives . . . but they will only start making it next month, or so they say.
The jones!
Regards,
Mike

Mike,
You will be taken care of that is for sure! I am convinced that you will receive a bonnet that is what you are looking for and of the highest quality! I can say that Robert Mackie's products are worth the wait!
