I would guess that this is the band of The Calgary Highlanders, who wear the uniform of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. Note the military emblazoned drums in the facing colour (yellow), the red&white diced Glengarries, the sage green shirts, the Lovat green hose, the ordinary shoes rather than ghillies. Presumably they're wearing boxpleated kilts.

I like the look of the black&white Police Dice Glengarries. Usually Police bands wearing these are the only time you'll see pipers in diced Glens; in the military, pipers' Glens are always plain, and civilian pipe bands usually have the entire band in plain Glens. Time to switch to black socks like most of the Police bands have!
It's great to see how many young people you have there participating in piping and drumming! Several of those bands seem to be all teenagers, or younger.
Thanks for the pics!

I'm pretty sure I see my brother (Macman on the site) who was out visiting his daughter and grandson that weekend. He brought out his pipes and joined in the opening ceremonies.

Yes, that is me in picture #2 - one of the few in a tam. I met a fellow I knew from the Crescent Beach Pipe Band and piped with them in the massed bands. It was a great day!

You mean in the yellow shirt? I think I saw you! You had a dandelion in your tam right? By the time I could get away I had lost you.

That was me, dandelion and all. I was underdressed, but, hey, "have pipes - will travel"!

Re: Canmore Highland Games 2011 Part 4
Yes, the one with the little guy is funny. I would imagine that many pipes and drums might be a bit overpowering for wee ears :-)
