I was at TRF last Saturday. The weather was nice and cool, and the crowds were not too bad. Overall, it was a great day. Lots of weirdos, though, what with it being Halloween weekend. I saw costumes such as the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man (with a hot Ghostbusters chick accompanying him), a guy dressed as a whoopie cushion, a dwarf painted blue and dressed like a Smurf, and other similar oddities.

I was pleasantly surprised, though, that skimpy chain mail has made a comeback. It's been years since I've seen so much female flesh walking around, pushing the limits of legality. Thank goodness I had a heavy sporran on!

By far the best costume I saw was this woman dressed in what appeared to be authentic French Renaissance style. She obviously spent a lot of time on this, and it had to be terribly uncomfortable. But man, it sure looked impressive!

My lovely bride of 14 years was looking particularly good in her wench dress...

I usually go to the festival in a kilt, but not as a 'costume' - just regular modern kilt wear. This year I decided to get into the spirit of the fantasy/romantic getup. I was not too thrilled about the look, but this is what I wore. It's a "Jacobite vest" from Geoffrey Tailor (circa 1985), a home-made "Missouri boatman's shirt", my usual Colquhoun tank, my home-made sporran, and my new Son of Sandlar boots.
